Goal 1: Target recruitment efforts to key neighborhoods of need (Outreach)

Objective 1.1 Build capacity for providers to serve an expanded service area

Objective 1.2 Facilitate partnerships with neighborhood and community groups in areas of need

Goal 2: Support providers to build program capacity to serve more learners (Recruitment)

Objective 2.1 Build an information and referral system

Objective 2.2 Provide social service organizations with the tools to identify those with limited skills and to link learners with programs
 

Goal 3: Develop programs to maintain high levels of attendance (Retention)

Objective 3.1 Address provider needs for more staff capacity as they work to increase retention rates

Objective 3.2 Promote learning environments that convey a focus on success rather than a reminder of failure

Objective 4.1 Operate an annual campaign to recruit Principal, Associate, and Individual Members

Current Accomplishments and Endeavors:

bullet Facilitated a collaboration of the Zion City Revitalization Project and the East Baton Rouge Parish School System Adult Education Program to implement a literacy center. The center delivers GED instruction, tutoring, and case management.
bullet Designed a portable learning lab, complete with laptop computers and instructional software, to increase provider capacity for outreach efforts
bullet Developed a comprehensive service directory to help link learners with programs

2008 Activities:

bullet Conducting a membership campaign to enroll Principal, Associate, and Individual Members
bullet Hiring an Adult Literacy Retention Specialist to assist in identifying and implementing retention initiatives
