The Greater Baton Rouge Literacy Coalition is dedicated to developing and implementing solutions that address literacy challenges and will work collaboratively with our stakeholders and members to determine strategies for improvement and best practices.

Benefits of Membership:

The Coalition offers many benefits to its members. Membership provides the opportunity to develop leadership roles in enhancing current literacy service programs, developing new programs, promoting community awareness about literacy, forming a network of others interested in literacy issues, and broadening the foundation of the Coalition and literacy service organizations. How to Join:

Memberships are from January 1st to December 31st of each calendar year, with an annual fee of $25. This fee is waived for students. Interested parties should complete the appropriate online membership application form (listed below in the next section), make checks payable to "The Greater Baton Rouge Literacy Coalition", and then mail their payment to the following address:

Membership Categories & Criteria:

Please review the Membership types above, choose the appropriate application link, and then complete the online application form. You will then need to mail payment to the Coalition at the address above.

Principal Membership:

For:  Programs, agencies, or sites providing direct services for people with literacy challenges

Criteria:

bullet Have fulfilled all requirements of the Coalition's Standards for Certification by working towards or having achieved ProLiteracy America's Accreditation, LANO's Standards of Excellence, or certification as required by federal and/or state adult education agencies;
bullet Currently operate a program in the Greater Baton Rouge community serving adults or out of school youths at least 17 years of age, or serve as an agency sponsoring or providing programs in the Greater Baton Rouge Area;
bullet Be willing to collaborate with other community groups, literacy service providers and educational agencies.
